2015 Upland Vineyard Muscat

2015 Upland Vineyard Muscat

WINEMAKER’S NOTES

This wine is not crafted to be unique – it is unique. Planted in 1917 by William Bridgman, this wine is comprised of the Alexandrine Muscat clone, which is considered an “ancient vine” as it’s believed to be one of the oldest genetically unmodified vines still in existence. Bridgman is known as the godfather of the Washington Wine Industry because he started planting a variety of Vitis Vinifera in 1917, forecasting demand for wine as prohibition began to roll across the nation. This wine is aromatic, complex and dry. On the nose,
the wine shows jasmine, orange blossom, and dusty crushed stone notes. The palate is bright with lychee, jasmine and a chalky minerality.

VINTAGE OVERVIEW

The 2015 vintage was a near-perfect growing season in the Willamette Valley, creating concentrated wines with complex layers and bright acidity. This Muscat spent almost a year on lees in a stainless steel tank. This wine is an ideal pairing with the brininess of oysters and the perfect wine to toast the start of a meal.
