2020 History Canoe Ridge Merlot
TASTING NOTES FROM WINEMAKER, MELISSA BURR
Rich aromas of blueberry and huckleberry leap from the glass, followed by undertones of nutmeg and clove. The palate is dense and layered, while the texture offers plush, silky tannins. There’s a wildness to this wine that reflects its place of origin, with notes of brambly red and blue fruit, rocky earth, and a structural, expansive finish.
VINTAGE OVERVIEW
The 2020 vintage in Washington state was a relatively warm growing season, the perfect conditions for high cluster counts with small berries. As a result, the skin-to-juice ratio was higher than average, allowing us to craft wines with rich, concentrated flavors. The quantity of wine we made was limited due to the small fruit set, which means every bottle will be savored for years to come.
