2017 History The Pines Vineyard Zinfandel
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
Located on a steep and terraced vineyard in the Columbia Valley AVA, these vines were planted in the late 1800s by an Italian stone mason. Abandoned in the mid-twentieth century, winegrower Lonnie Wright discovered the vines in the early ‘80’s and cultivated their history. A beautiful deep garnet color, the aromatics are reminiscent of eastern spices (cumin, tumeric, anise) that are complemented with hints of blackberry. The palate is elegant yet bold, with dark tannins, blackberry bramble, and baking spice. This wine is just a baby, and it will only get better with time.
VINTAGE OVERVIEW
The 2017 vintage was a classic growing season in the Pacific Northwest. The cool, sunny temperatures during harvest allowed the fruit to have a long hang time and develop rich flavors.
