2016 Legacy Ruth's Pinot Noir
WINE OVERVIEW
Named after Bill Stoller’s mother, Ruth’s Pinot Noir is sourced from Section 11.1, our oldest planting of Pommard in the vineyard. Expressing elegance and refinement, aromatics of black cherry, currant, and black licorice with hints of earth. The palate is vibrant, showing notes of ripe raspberry, blackberry and toasted walnut with a satin finish. This is a wine built for longevity, and will further evolve with cellaring.
HARVEST OVERVIEW
2016 was a warmer than average year for the Willamette Valley, with a perfect deceleration of heat accumulation at the end of an early growing season that allowed a nice pace to harvest. A touch of rain during flowering gave the composition of small clusters with a higher skin to pulp ratio, leading to concentrated flavors and aromas, making 2016 one of the best vintages to date.
