2018 Legacy William H Stoller Pinot Noir

WINEMAKER’S NOTES

Bill Stoller is a reserved, thoughtful man with a true love for our estate - his home. This wine is an exclusive assemblage of our most expressive sections in the vineyard from the 2018 vintage. These sections were handpicked and co-fermented with the intent to make the most elevated expression of our Pinot Noir. It was aged in French oak for 18 months before spending another year and a half in bottle to amplify the character of our site, the vintage, and the legacy Bill has cultivated over the last 25 years.

With only 100 cases available, the William H. Stoller Pinot Noir captures intensity and concentration in the glass. It shows bright flavors of black cherry with hints of clove and brambly earth on the nose. The palate is supple, showing marionberry and hints of black tea leaves that carry plush tannins through the finish. This wine is a true reflection of our founder’s thoughtfulness and reserved qualities and our home in the Dundee Hills.

VINTAGE OVERVIEW 

On average, the 2018 vintage was a warmer and drier growing season. The vintage kicked off with an early bud break. June saw a cool, wet weather period during bloom put the vintage back on track for a traditional September harvest. The most notable climatic feature to the 2018 vintage, was our extended summer harvest weather that continued into early November. This allowed us to pick based on ripe flavors and near-perfect natural acidity.
